Models and 0G Compute

Ghast currently presents its model catalog through 0G Compute. Enable models in Settings, then choose the model for each Chat or Coding conversation from its composer.

Enable a model

  1. Open Settings → 0G Compute.
  2. Filter by model family.
  3. Review price, context length, privacy-execution markers, and provider count.
  4. Turn on the model’s switch.
  5. Use the lightning button to test it.

Only enabled models appear in Ghast model pickers. Catalog entries, prices, and availability can change; review the current page before a long-context or high-cost task.

Choose the primary conversation model

Open the model picker below the Chat or Coding composer. The picker also shows the current reasoning level. Your choice applies to the next generation.

Consider:

  • whether the task needs coding, vision, long context, or deeper reasoning;
  • context limit and input/output price;
  • available providers and the model-test result;
  • available Credit, Payment Layer funds, and Router Deposit.

Changing models affects later generations only. It does not rewrite existing messages or expand Tool, Skill, MCP, or command permissions.

Background Model

Open Settings → General → Background Model. Ghast uses this model for activity summaries, query rewriting, memory organization, and similar background LLM work. A fast, lower-cost model is usually appropriate. Select Test after changing it.

The Background Model is not the conversation’s primary model. Changing it does not alter the model already selected in Chat or Coding, and a successful background-model test does not prove that the main model, Tools, or external services are available.

Diagnose model availability

Check in this order:

  1. The model’s switch is on under Settings → 0G Compute.
  2. Its model test succeeds.
  3. The correct model is selected in the current conversation.
  4. Account funds are available.
  5. The connection under Settings → Network is healthy.
  6. The request is within the model’s context and capability limits.

Do not repeat an expensive request while its result is unknown. First check whether the earlier generation completed and whether the account balance changed.
